Johney Harden started Harden's in 1939 as Johney's Jip Joint featuring old fashioned hamburgers made with a "secret" seasoning and meaty homemade chili.

Rick and Sharon West bought Harden's from Johney in 1988 and learned quickly there is an art to cooking hamburgers. Many of our customers can attest to the fact that the same artistic approach that served Johney since 1939 has served The West's loyal customers well.

"I told Johney anybody could cook hamburgers," West recalled. "He straightened me out. Johney said cooking hamburgers was like painting a picture."
